I hope you are all doing well!

How is your October going so far? I cannot believe we’re about to celebrate another Halloween!

I’ve been working on a private commission for the last week, and it has been very challenging and interesting at the same time! I’ll be sharing some pictures when I’m more advanced in the process.

In the meantime, here is my last piece that I had planned to do for this Christmas season. I wrote a bit more details for it on my portfolio, so I hope you will go take a look.

To keep myself in the Halloween spirit, I’ve started reading Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and it is such a wonderfully spooky and Gothic read! It’s very enjoyable so far.

Wishing you a great week!

Another great library find! I’m so happy to share this one with you as the Harvest Moon celebrations were very recent!

I’m done adding xmas items to the shop! I might create a few other things, but for now everything that was planned is available. I hope you will enjoy the animals of this collection and that they will bring you extra sprinkles of cheer and holiday magic!

Here is my September vlog! I’m not sure why the beginning is a bit blurry, but it gets better! 😦 If you have any idea why this is happening, please let me know!
In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy this little relaxing video!

A small treat…

I’ve always been so impressed and intrigued by Japanese prints, and I was so happy to find this video to understand the process. It’s incredible and quite impressive, isn’t it?

It’s official friends: I’m done with the Christmas collection! I wanted to be done by October 1st, and I’m very happy to have been able to stay on schedule. It is so satisfying when this happens!

I will be releasing a few Christmas products every day for the next week or so, so keep your eyes open for that!

Here’s a sneak peak of my cheerful nature journal spread! I loved painting the rabbit so much! I’m happy with how fluffy and soft it looks. You’ll have to wait a few more days to bring it home, but it’s coming very soon to my shop!

Now that I’m done working on Christmas paintings, I want to try something a bit different and move to bigger formats. I’m still in the planning stages, but it’s exciting to have some time to experiment and play outside of my comfort zone.

Outside of the Atelier, Fall has definitively started to take a hold on things. It’s been wonderful to put on my sweaters and cozy up. I made some apple juice with part of our apple bounty I told you about last week, and it’s amazingly delicious!

Wishing you a great week!

This week, I’m not sharing a book, but an illustrator with you. Mateusz Urbanowicz is an amazing artist based in Japan who paints incredible scenery. He also creates graphic novels, books, and stunning watercolour paintings. I invite you to explore his website and  gallery.

I really enjoy watching his process videos. It’s so interesting the way he uses digital tools to plan analog paintings. It’s very clever!

I’ve started to add some special items for the Xmas season. I know it’s still very far away, but as shipping has been a bit unpredictable, I prefer to put everything up ahead of time.

First off, here are some lovely zippered pouches. These are perfect for everything: toiletries, books, chocolate, colouring pencils, and all your other treasures! I kept one for myself, and I use it to carry my sketchbook and favourite drawing tools. I can also slip in my phone and keys and leave the house in style! These are made in Montreal and, yes, it is vegan leather.

A small treat…

How intriguing and fascinating!

Happy Fall!

Last weekend, we went apple picking! It was so nice to be out in an orchard with such lovely weather! It was also very beautiful to see all these apples! and tasty too…

In the atelier, I’m still working on Yule/Winter painting #2. It’s chunky and unfamiliar work, but I think (hope) it will be nice. I’m working at a snail’s pace because I’ve had some nasty insomnia in the last few weeks which make me so slow and sluggish during the day. Still, I’m making good progress, and I think I’ll be able to decide if I keep this painting or not by the end of the week.

I’m also working on some special – limited edition items that will be available this Christmas season, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I hope you are all doing well!

This week, (drumrolls please) I finished the first Christmas painting! I am excited to share it with you, but I want to keep the surprise a little longer, so here’s a little sneak peak.

Painting this really made me excited for Christmas already! But, as the trees are changing colours every day, little by little, I’m also very excited for Fall and Halloween. I’ve been struggling a bit with making plans, so I’ve written a Fall bucket list to make sure that I took advantage of the season this year. On my list, I have

  • to go apple picking;
  • to start knitting again;
  • to re-read the book “The Witches of New York” by Amy McKay;
  • and many other small seasonal pleasures!

and you, what’s on your Fall bucket list?

This weekend I found a pretty desk for almost nothing, and it was the perfect piece for my wrapping station. So far, I had been packing your orders on a door I placed on filing cabinets. It worked well, but it was a bit too low to be really comfortable. Not anymore! I’ve upgraded!

I really enjoy finding great additions like this one second hand as it is easy on my budget, but also has an element of surprise or treasure hunting. In any case, I’m happy to have a good table to prep all your orders now!

In other news, I’ve officially started working on Christmas products. It’s definitively a change of pace, but I’m very excited to share my future paintings with you 🙂

It’s done! I’ve finished the second painting I wanted to complete for Fall! I’m so happy with how it turned out. The fox was a special request for a friend, and I have to say that I thought about it a lot. I find foxes incredibly difficult to draw because it is so easy to mess them up and have them look more like cats or dogs than foxes. It was an interesting process to practise drawing them and to see how different cultures represented foxes. I learned a lot through painting this little creature. I really enjoy painting the elements of this painting. Fall has its own kind of magic, and this painting made me fall into it a bit ahead of time!

If you want to see more on this painting, head over to my portfolio!

I hope you are all doing well!

This week, I’m working on my second Fall painting I want to finish this year. It is such a fun painting, and I cannot wait to share it with you! I’m painting new things that I’ve never painted before and the process is both motivating and intimidating. I’m asking myself a lot of questions about my techniques, and it is fun to find novel solutions to my painting situations. I really enjoy learning with each project.

As a sneak peak on this painting, I wanted to share these apples that I had so much fun painting. There is something quite entertaining in painting red fruits!

As promised, here is a better picture of our garden hibiscus in full bloom! The flowers are gigantic but only last for one day. Fortunately, there are numerous, and we get to witness a new flower each morning.
