I hope you are all doing well!

This week, things have been a bit (a lot) chaotic. We’ve had some power outages and unexpected repairs. In the atelier, I’m almost done with my large painting, but I’ve ran straight into a metaphorical wall with it yesterday… flat on my face, at full speed. Nothing is irreparable (I very much hope so…), but still quite disheartening. In any case, I’m trying very hard not to panic, and I’ll keep you updated once I wrap my head around a solution.

Aside from panicking over my painting, I’ve been busy sending out your orders. Thank you so much! I’m so grateful that I get to be a part of your holiday season and your lives in this way. I’m always so happy when I wrap your items. Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏

As for the holidays, I’ll be writing the last newsletter of the year next week. I hope you are all coping well with the end of the year, and that the holiday prep is not stressing you too much.

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

These all look so tasty! Perfect as last minute gifts and to add to your pantry, I’ll give those a try for sure over the holidays. I’m not a big fan of coffee, so I’ll add extra cocoa instead, but these mix all sound so delicious!

This week, I took a small break from my big format painting, and painted a tiger. I wanted to have something ready for the Lunar New Year early as it will fall at the very beginning of February. Next Year will be the year of the Tiger. It was very fun researching these beautiful animals (and to recognize some of our cats attitudes in the pictures!). Now that I painted one tiger, I want to paint more! I thought the stripes would be difficult and tedious, but they were a lot of fun actually. Tigers are so beautiful, what a pleasure to paint!

You can see more pictures of this project in my portfolio!

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

Last week, I shared with you my November vlog where I made some kimchi. I felt pretty proud of myself for exceptionally making a big batch: 3 cabbages! Well, this is a whole other level of kimchi!!! It looks like such a fun day spent working as a family.

If you are not particularly interested in kimchi making, this is a channel I really enjoy. Her content is so soothing!

This week, I’ve been investigating ways to reduce the carbon footprint of my shop. It’s been interesting looking at different packaging options, and I think I’ll try a few when my stocks of supply run out.

I’m also busy painting my second big format painting. I don’t want to say too much until it is done, but I’m enjoying the process a lot!

I’ve also worked on editing November’s vlog, and you’ll find the link for it below 🙂 I’m sharing my kimchi recipe. I’ve been a bit lazy about cooking this last few days, so kimchi pancakes have been a great option. So delicious and simple!

In other news, our cat has discovered the fact that my desk lamp heats up. She found a new spot for her naps. There she is as I’m writing this 😅

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

Last weekend, I visited my painting in its new home, and it was such a pleasure to see it beautifully framed! It makes me so happy to see my work presented like this.

In the atelier, I’m starting work on another big format. I shared with you the beginning of the study, and I completed that. I used to not see the value of studies, but it is quite interesting to be able to practise a subject in this low-pressure way. It was very helpful in helping me identify the possible difficulties and things to watch out for. It was also a great way to practise mixing colours and noting down interesting mixes. Now that I’m starting to paint the “real thing”, I’m more confident of where I’m going. It’s still very much nerve wracking, but we have begun ladies and gentlemen!

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

The sketchbook is available in the shop! I made it a digital product because I couldn’t decide on what kind of paper to print. I thought some of you would prefer thicker paper for markers, while others might enjoy specialty paper like watercolour paper. So, as a digital download, you can decide for yourself and print it in the comfort of your own home! The booklet is 14 pages, and the price is very competitive compared to my single coloring pages which are usually sold at 3$ each. In any case, I hope you’ll go take a look!

I finished my new colour booklet! It was so much fun working on these pages. I discovered and created new patterns that were so enjoyable to draw. I particularly enjoyed the starfish!

I’ve included only patterns inspired by nature, and it was very soothing work. I hope you’ll have fun discovering these pages and that they will bring you as much relaxation and tranquility as they did me.

I’m also starting work on a new painting featuring the beautiful Delonix regia tree. To get more familiar with it, I worked on a little study. The flower is quite something isn’t?

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

I’m back in the atelier and it is so great! This week, I’m working on a colouring booklet. If everything goes according to plan, it should be finished by the end of the week… in fact, it was finished on Monday, but I decided to add a few more pages. I’m exploring patterns, and it has been a very soothing process. Now, I’m waiting for some pens to come in because I’ve used up quite a few with these pages!

Do you remember the Sarracenia painting I did a few months back? Well, it is with childish excitement that I found a real sarracenia plant at our local nursery! I made sure it was grown from seeds and brought it home. I’m very excited to take care of it, and I hope it will be happy with us.

Until next week,

Take care! 🧡🧡🧡

First things first! As promised, here is my latest painting! You can see more in my portfolio.

I’m now starting work on a second larger format. I really enjoy taking my time on these larger pieces, and it is very rewarding when they are complete. Again, I’ve selected a Vietnamese tree for this painting, and I’m excited to start painting!

Besides from that, we are busy planting flowering bulbs for next year. The weather was too hot, so we kept putting it off, and now it’s cold all of a sudden so we need to hurry. We take bulb-breaks, and I’m confident that we will be done by the end of the week. I cannot wait to see all the flowers!

I’m done with my commission piece! I will be sharing a few pictures soon, but I have yet to take said pictures so… But it is done! I learned so much painting this bigger format, and I’m excited to do more in the future.

This painting as kept me very busy for the last few weeks, and I’m looking forward to a few creative days to experiment, practice and explore. After bigger projects, I find it’s always a good idea to give myself a break to recharge and regroup a little. I’m looking forward to breaking in a new sketchbook, testing new paint tubes and drawing loads of different things… while low-key resisting the fear that that is not enough. Creative recharging time is primordial! In fact, when looking at all “the greats” in the book Daily Rituals by Mason Currey, it is the central part of a lot of creative routines. So here’s to filling my creative cup!

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Fall is stunning this year. This is my favourite tree, and you can save the picture if you like. I love how warm and intense the colours are.

In the atelier, I’m working on my commission piece. It’s moving along nicely, and I’ enjoying this work a lot. It’s challenging to work in a bigger format, but it is also very liberating. Here’s a little sneak-peak.

I’m not having the best work flow as I’ve been dealing with what I describe as “fried nerves”: I’m either really tired, headachy and sluggish or stuck in panic mode. Neither are very conducive to creativity and detailed work, but I can usually manage to work on the painting for a couple of hours each day. When I feel stuck like this, I usually turn to my sketchbook to do some repeat pattern exercises. I feel like they are the best to get me to start, and they work wonderfully on stress and anxiety. In any case, it feels nice to put ink to paper even in this small and simple way.

That’s it for now friends!

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week 🙂

How is your October going so far? I cannot believe we’re about to celebrate another Halloween!

I’ve been working on a private commission for the last week, and it has been very challenging and interesting at the same time! I’ll be sharing some pictures when I’m more advanced in the process.

In the meantime, here is my last piece that I had planned to do for this Christmas season. I wrote a bit more details for it on my portfolio, so I hope you will go take a look.

To keep myself in the Halloween spirit, I’ve started reading Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and it is such a wonderfully spooky and Gothic read! It’s very enjoyable so far.

Wishing you a great week!
