Atelier News

Hello everyone! I hope this finds you well: good health, not too much stress and plenty of books to read! I’ve been feeling beside myself for quite a while because of the concussion, and all the stress and bad news that have been pouring in are not helping. This is why I’m trying to focus on the positive: Spring, flowers, light.

I’ve considerably reduced my media consumption and that has been a huge help on my mood and overall well-being. I know it is hard to resist looking at the news, but it is such a relief.

I also started to paint more and more flowers. This week, I worked on this piece: all the sunflowers! It has been so therapeutic to work with all the yellows and oranges, and to create this little cat. Don’t you wish you were like him: lost in a sea of flowers?

I’m reading…

This week, I read the book “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng. I loved it! I first saw the trailer for the TV series, but I always try to read the book first. Well, this book does not disappoint. If you enjoy books like the “Joy Luck Club” or any of Kate Morton’s books, you will love this one: strong female characters, impossible life choices, funny moments, lots of feelings, racism, social struggle, and incredible consequences to mundane choices!

This books takes you through the thoughts of different characters, retails the past and foreshadows about the future, leaving you wanting to know more. A real page turner, this is the perfect book to cuddle up with!

If you want to see more of my process, this week I share how I painted aaaaalll the sunflowers on my Youtube channel!

New in the Etsy Store

I wanted to capture some of the sunflowers and put them everywhere, so I created some stickers! They are so cute and make me feel so happy when I look at them. I also wanted to create a happy greeting card so that you can send some happy thoughts to your loved ones.

I’ve also continued to upload one new coloring page every day. If you haven’t been to my Etsy store in a while, you are in for a treat!

I hope you will enjoy them!

Atelier News

This week, I worked on some Spring designs. I really enjoyed working on smaller pieces and focusing on flowers and cuteness. It’s such a change after the three bigger pieces I worked on in February.

I’m preparing for a Spring market (more news on this soon!), and I still have a lot of work to do to be ready for it.

I paint each picture with watercolors and use some coloring pencils for details. After that, I scan and work on the pictures digitally if they need it. Then, it’s the fun part: printing the stickers!

I’m reading…

After visiting the Van Gogh exhibit last week, I realized that I really didn’t know much about this fabulous painter. I was deeply touched by his work, and I wanted to know more, so I explored the library and found the book Vincent and Theo by Deborah Heiligman.

It’s a really fascinating read. It is so touching to learn about Van Gogh as a kid and to see him struggle to find what he really wants to do in life. It’s also interesting to see how much he traveled and tried different professions. It’s also very impressive to know that he was fluent in many different languages. His relationship with his family, and in particular his brother Theo, is at the center of this book which gives a very personal point of view to this biography.  I’m not done yet, but so far, so good!

New in the Etsy Store

I really have a lot of fun creating new products for the store, and I hope you will have as much fun using them in your daily life!

This week, the first spring stickers are available both as a sticker sheet and as bigger individual sticker packs.
