There’s is something is mesmerizing in poppy flowers. They are so bright, yet their petals are so thin and delicate. I used to love when we drove by poppy fields when I was a little girl, and I can remember at least one occasion when I asked to stop to look at all the flowers. Maybe this is where this grimoire page comes from! It was very nice to paint such a beautiful flower and to research some of the folklore surrounding it.

I painted the flowers with watercolours and calligraphed the text with sepia ink on watercolour paper.
