I’ve been working on a calendar project for 2023, and I’m excited to share each month with you. I think these paintings are some of my best work. They were all done in watercolour on watercolour paper and edited digitally.

For this project, I gave myself the theme of “A Year in a Canadian Forest”. I therefore only painted plants and animals that are native (or naturalized) to Canada.
For September, I chose the incredible Monarch butterfly and Goldenrod. This flower always signals the beginning of Fall in our area. It is funny how it grows very unassumingly and then burst with gold. The Monarch butterfly is stunning! I’ve also included some Rudbeckia flowers in the background.
