A friend suggested painting some tulips, and I wanted to give it a try because, although I used not to think much of tulips, they became one of my favourite flowers in the past few years. There is something quite mysterious and magical about putting some unassuming bulbs in the earth during Fall and patiently waiting for flowers to come out during Spring. Each time it is a little surprise! And, I discovered last Spring that Tulips smell incredible. As if all that was not enough, this plant has such a wonderful history. What’s not to love? This little harvest mouse certainly looks happy in her floral home!

I used watercolours on watercolour paper and added the background digitally. I worked from difference reference pictures including one from Belinda Fewings found on Unsplash.
