For the last few weeks, I have been practising painting mushrooms with watercolour. I love that each mushroom is different, beautiful and a whole project in itself. It’s also so much fun discovering new species and having a go at reproducing them.

I decided to do more detailed studies of a few North American edible mushrooms. I used watercolours on watercolour paper.

Each one had different difficulties that I had to figure out, but it was so much fun, like solving small puzzles with each painting.

Once they were done, I scanned them and calligraphed their Latin names. I put everything together digitally, and I ended up with this print:
I really enjoyed working on this piece and I learned a lot while doing it. If you enjoy it too, it is available as a print, greeting cards and stickers in my Etsy shop. As I’m an independent artist, each purchase allows me to keep on creating.
