I’ve been working on a calendar project for 2023, and I’m excited to share each month with you. I think these paintings are some of my best work. They were all done in watercolour on watercolour paper and edited digitally.

For this project, I gave myself the theme of “A Year in a Canadian Forest”. I therefore only painted plants and animals that are native (or naturalized) to Canada.

For April, I selected crocus flowers, blue azure butterflies and wood sorrel. There is nothing more magical than walking in a forest and stumbling on a carpet of flowers. Especially after our long Canadian winters.
